    How it works

A little learning every week, together.

Add your child once and pick their level. Each week, Yarnily gives you the topic, the book, the questions and the activity. You do them together, at home.

    Each week

One book, one conversation, one small activity.

Every week has one topic. Yarnily gives you the book, the questions and the activity for it, so there is nothing to plan.

    1. Read, about 15 minutes

      Read this week's book together.

A short picture book on the week's topic, with a few fact pages at the end. Read it together, print it, or let your child read it on their own tablet.

This week: Why do some things float?

    2. Talk, about 10 minutes

      Talk about it.

A few questions to ask while the book is fresh. There are no right answers. You are listening to how your child thinks.

“What else in the kitchen do you think would float?”

    3. Do, about 15 minutes

      Do one small thing.

A hands-on activity with things you already have at home. This is where most of the week's learning happens.

Fill a bowl with water and test five things from the kitchen.

A full week adds two more steps: Tell, where your child retells the book in their own words, and Share, with the whole family. It comes to about 25 minutes on screen a week, and about 90 minutes together away from it.

    Who uses what

Yarnily for you. Yarnily Kids for your child.

You make and check the books in Yarnily. Your child reads them in Yarnily Kids, on their own tablet. You are the link between the two: a book reaches their shelf only when you publish it, and what they read comes back to you.

    Every paid plan

    What else comes with it.

    • Three model books, or your own idea.

Every topic week has three model books, written in advance. Start from one of them, or from your own idea on the week's topic. The lesson and the fact pages stay the same.

    • A book for the moment.

When a question comes up, like a new sibling, a trip to the dentist or why the sea is salty, you can make a book about it. It is written at your child's reading level and uses your plan's monthly allowance.

    • Ideas when you need them.

Not sure where to start? Tell Yarnily what's on your mind, a worry, a good day or a wish, and pick from three ideas for a book.

    • Your child in the book.

Add a photo and a few details. Yarnily draws a character based on your child and keeps them the same from book to book. You can add family, friends and real places the same way.

    • Read aloud, or read together.

Every book on a paid plan can be read aloud. Listen together, or take turns reading the pages. It helps children who are just starting to read.

    • Yarnily Kids, their own shelf.

Link your child's tablet once and they can read the books you have published, with the narration, on their own, then try a short activity after a book. Stars and trophies for them; what they read, for you. It can't make, buy or change anything.

    • A book can become a series.

If your child asks for more, a book can continue with the same characters and places. Each part remembers what happened before. You decide when the series ends.

    • Print it, or share it.

Save any book as a PDF and print it at home. Send a private link to grandparents. They can read it without an account.
