Terms of Use
Last updated · 10 October 2026 · Version 2026-10.3
These terms are the agreement between you (the adult who holds the account) and Yarnily. They cover what you may do with the service, what we owe you, and what happens when either of us wants to stop. Using Yarnily means agreeing to them. How we handle your family's information is a separate document: the Privacy Policy.
Who may use Yarnily
The account holder must be an adult (eighteen or older, or the age of majority where you live) and must be the parent or legal guardian of every child added to the account, or have that parent's authority to act for them.
Children use Yarnily only through your account. A child cannot open an account, cannot hold one, and is never asked to agree to these terms. Yarnily contracts with you, not with your child. You decide what is created, you decide what your child reads and where, and you are responsible for what happens under your account, including on any device you link for your child, and for keeping your sign-in to yourself.
Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account or a device you linked.
Your child's own device
You can link a tablet, phone or computer to your account so a child can read on it at kids.yarnily.com without your sign-in. Linking starts on your own phone and finishes only when you tap Allow there. A linked device can read the books you have published for the children you chose, with their pictures and narration, and Yarnily's library for a child you have switched it on for. It cannot make, buy, change or share anything. With your child's Learning Journey on, it also records the books they read and the activities they finish there, so they earn stars and trophies and you can follow along on their profile.
You can remove a device at any time from Kids devices in the app, and it stops working at once. A device unused for 90 days stops working on its own and is removed. Deleting a child takes them off every device, and deleting your account removes every device. Look after a linked device as you would anything signed in to your account, and remove it if it leaves your family.
Subscriptions, usage and payment
Subscribing to a plan
A Yarnily plan is a monthly subscription to the Yarnily service: the Learning Path, learning books, illustrations generated by computer models, narration, learning activities, and a monthly allowance for using the automated features that make them. What you pay for is that subscription; nothing else is sold, and there is no balance, wallet or credit to buy, hold or top up.
Yarnily is a web application. It is not distributed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and there is no Yarnily app to download from either; you use it in a browser, and may add it to your device's home screen. Subscriptions are bought from us directly, through the payment provider shown at checkout, which handles the transaction under its own terms and describes it as a Yarnily subscription. Your card details go to that provider; we do not see or store them.
Plans renew automatically until cancelled. You cancel in Yarnily itself, in your account settings, and the cancellation takes effect there, at once. There is no separate store subscription to stop.
Plans are sold in India, in Indian rupees. Prices are shown inclusive of any tax that applies, and we ask which state you are in before your first payment because that is what the invoice has to carry.
Your invoice
Every charge (a plan month, a renewal, an Additional usage pack) gets its own document, which you can open and save from the Subscriptions page in Yarnily. It names the company, its address and registration numbers, the service you bought, the place of supply and the tax charged on it.
Sycuera Technology Private Limited is registered for GST (GSTIN 33ABUCS8469H1ZI). Every price includes GST at 18%, and each charge is issued a tax invoice carrying its serial number, the place of supply and the tax split: CGST and SGST if you are in Tamil Nadu, IGST anywhere else in India. If a charge is refunded, you get a credit note against that invoice for what went back. Charges made before the registration took effect keep the bill of supply they were given, with no GST in them.
Buying for a business? Add your GSTIN, with the legal name and address it is registered under, on the Subscriptions page before you pay. Invoices from then on are made out to your business, so it can claim the GST back. An invoice already issued is not changed.
Your monthly usage allowance
Yarnily subscriptions may include an allowance for accessing eligible automated features. Usage allowances are provided solely for measuring access to Yarnily services. They have no monetary or cash value, cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged, withdrawn or redeemed for currency, and do not constitute stored money, virtual currency or a payment instrument.
- Your allowance is assigned when your subscription starts and again at each renewal. It resets with each billing cycle: it does not roll over, and allowance unused when a billing period ends is not carried forward, refunded or converted into anything. (If you change or cancel your plan before the period ends, the unused part is kept as Additional usage for 365 days; see "Changing or cancelling your plan" below.)
- Making something new uses part of the allowance: writing a story, drawing its illustrations, reading it aloud, building its activities. Illustrations and narration use more of it than text, and a longer story uses more than a short one, so the number of books a month allows is approximate and is never promised as an exact figure. Reading a story again, keeping it, printing it or browsing the public library never uses it.
- The allowance belongs to the account, not to a child: every child profile on the account shares it. It can be used only inside Yarnily, by the account it belongs to, and only for the features it covers. It cannot be given, traded or moved to another account, and it is not a way to pay for anything.
- If a step fails and produces nothing, it does not use your allowance. If you believe your allowance was used for something you did not receive, write to us and we will put it right.
- Additional usage packs. On a paid plan you can buy Additional usage: more of the automated features for your account, offered as a service under these terms. A pack is a one-time charge, it is used after your monthly allowance, it is available for 365 days from the day you buy it, and whatever is unused at the end of those days expires. Like your monthly allowance it has no cash value and cannot be held as a balance, transferred or redeemed. If your family needs more every month, a plan with a larger monthly allowance is the better value.
No plan is unlimited and we do not describe any plan that way. If a plan page and this section ever disagree about how the allowance works, this section is what you have agreed to.
Changing or cancelling your plan
You can change or cancel your plan at any time in Yarnily, and it takes effect at once.
- When you cancel, your plan ends that day and nothing further is charged. Whatever is left of the month's allowance you have already paid for stays available as Additional usage for 365 days, and you can keep making new stories with it until then. The rest of that month is not refunded.
- When you move to another plan, the new plan starts that day: it is charged in full, its full monthly allowance is assigned, and it renews monthly from then. The unused part of your previous plan's month is kept as Additional usage in the same way.
- Additional usage, whether kept from a plan or bought as a pack, is used after your monthly allowance, oldest first, and expires at the end of its 365 days whether or not it has been used. Like the rest of your allowance it has no cash value and cannot be refunded or transferred.
Cancelling and refunds
A cancellation takes effect at once, as described above; nothing further is charged, and the remainder of a month already paid for is not refunded. An Additional usage pack is not refunded once bought, except where something went wrong on our side.
If something has gone wrong (you were charged twice, a story was never delivered, a plan did not activate), write to support@yarnily.com and we will put it right. A refund we agree is returned through the payment provider that took the money, to the method you paid with. Nothing here limits any refund right you have under Indian consumer law.
How long it takes. A person replies within 5 business days of your message. A refund we agree is started within 7 business days of agreeing it, and the payment provider then returns it to the method you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 working days depending on your bank. A cancellation takes effect at once.
Prices
Prices are shown in Yarnily before you buy, and include GST at 18%: the figure you see is the figure you pay. We may change prices for future periods; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before renewing at a new price.
Who owns the stories
What you keep
What you give Yarnily stays yours: the photo you upload, the notes you write, your child's details. You grant us a limited licence to use them solely to run the service for you: to make your family's stories, to show them back to you, and to store them. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
What you get
Your family receives a personal, non-commercial licence to read, download, print and share your stories, including exporting them as a PDF where your plan offers it. Read them aloud, print them, put them in a folder, give a copy to a grandparent. What this licence does not cover is selling them, publishing them commercially, or using them as content in a product of your own.
Yarnily keeps the rights it needs to host, store and display your content back to you, and retains its own rights in the Yarnily platform: the software, the brand, the artwork style and the design.
Sharing, and the public library
Your family's stories are private to your account. Nothing you make is published anywhere by default.
A share link is created by you and revoked by you. Anyone holding the link can read that story, so you decide who gets it, and you can revoke it at any time, after which the link stops working. Deleting a child revokes their share links automatically and takes them off every device you have linked.
The public library holds stories Yarnily publishes for every family that uses the app. You can read it inside the Yarnily app, and your child can read it on a device you have linked only if you switch it on for them on their profile. It is not on the yarnily.com website. A story of your family's appears there only if you explicitly submit it and we accept it: never automatically, and never because you created a share link.
Features that continue a story
These are part of the service and governed by the same terms as everything else. They are named here so they arrive covered rather than uncovered.
- What the stories remember. Where story continuity is offered, the record of your child's fictional story world is part of the service. You can see, correct and delete it, and it is deleted along with the child or the account. The Privacy Policy describes what is kept.
- Continuing a story, and stories at a set time. Where offered, these are service features under the same licence as any other story. A story prepared for a time you set is yours on the same terms as one you asked for directly.
- Activities after a story. Where offered, an activity is an invitation, not an assessment. Nothing is graded, rated or marked, and skipping one costs your child nothing: the story was already complete.
Safety, and what we will not write
Yarnily may refuse, adapt or decline any story request its safety systems judge inappropriate for children. A refusal is the product working, not the product failing. Sometimes a request will be softened rather than refused, and sometimes we will come back and ask you to confirm before writing. What we will and will not write is published at /safety.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to get around, disable or trick Yarnily's safety systems.
- Add a child you are not the parent or guardian of, or upload a photo of someone whose parent has not agreed to it.
- Use Yarnily to make content for commercial redistribution.
- Upload unlawful, abusive or harmful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Resell, scrape or automate access to the service, or attempt to extract our software.
- Break the law, or use Yarnily to harm anyone, children above all.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If a story ever reaches your child that shouldn't have, tell us at support@yarnily.com and we will look at it as a priority.
Changes to the service and to these terms
Yarnily is still growing. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and we will not pretend otherwise. Where a change materially reduces something you are paying for, we will tell you.
When these terms change materially, we will tell you in the app and give the date the change takes effect. Continuing to use Yarnily after that date means you accept the new terms, except where the law requires us to ask you again, which includes any change to what you consented to on your child's behalf. Then we ask again.
What Yarnily is not, and what we are liable for
Stories are creative fiction, written and illustrated with the help of artificial intelligence. They are not advice (not educational, medical, psychological, developmental or professional advice of any kind) and nothing in a Yarnily story is a substitute for a teacher, a paediatrician or a therapist. The same is true of everything else Yarnily generates: reading guides, activities, questions and suggestions. What Yarnily shows you about a child's learning describes what their stories explored. It is not an assessment of your child and does not measure what they have learnt.
What our safety checks do, and what they do not do
Story text passes through the safety systems described at /safety. Those checks are real and they refuse work every day, but they are not a guarantee, and two limits matter enough to state plainly: illustrations are not screened by an automated safety check, and no check we run catches everything. Artificial intelligence is still developing. It can produce words or pictures that are wrong, odd, or not right for your particular child, and it can do so in a story that passed every check we have.
You are the reviewer
This is why Yarnily asks you to look before your child does. Every story is yours to read, change or discard while it is still a draft, and nothing reaches your child until you publish it. When you do, we show you a short summary of these limits and ask you to confirm you have reviewed the story, each time, for each story. We keep a record of that confirmation. Stories from Yarnily's own library are not part of this review: they reach a device you have linked only if you switch the library on for that child, and you can read every one of them in the app first.
The narration, and the activities and questions built from the story, are made while you review it, so you can hear and read them before you publish. Once you publish, a device you have linked for your child can show the story and play its narration straight away.
You decide what your child sees, and you are responsible for what you publish to them and for what a device you link can show. The Yarnily app is for grown-ups, not one to hand to a child. A child reading on their own should do so on a device you have linked for them, where they can read only what you have published to them, and Yarnily's library if you switch it on, and cannot make or change anything. If a story, picture, activity or anything else is not right, do not publish it, and tell us at support@yarnily.com so we can look at it.
The service is provided as it is. We work hard on quality and safety, and we cannot promise the service will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, nor that generated content will always be accurate or suitable.
To the extent Indian law allows, Yarnily is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law: including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under India's consumer-protection law.
Ending it
You can stop using Yarnily whenever you like: cancel your plan, and delete your account from the app when you want your data gone. Export your stories first if you want to keep them: export is free and complete.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used fraudulently, or where we are required to by law. Except where a child's safety or the law demands immediate action, we will tell you and give you a chance to put it right, and to export your stories.
When an account is deleted, the deletion described in the Privacy Policy is what happens to the data in it.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the consumer law of the place you live.
Please write to support@yarnily.com first. Nearly everything is quicker to fix that way than through a court, and we would rather fix it.
Complaints and the Grievance Officer
Pradheesh Hari, our Grievance Officer, handles complaints about Yarnily: billing, your data, safety, anything. Write to support@yarnily.com.
- We acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and give it a reference you can quote back to us.
- We resolve it within 30 days. A complaint about a payment gets a person's reply within 5 business days, which is sooner.
- If you are not satisfied, you may take a consumer complaint to the National Consumer Helpline (1915 / consumerhelpline.gov.in) or to the consumer commission where you live. Nothing here takes that away.
The rest of it
- The whole agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the agreement between you and Yarnily about the service.
- If a clause fails. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.
- Transfer. You may not transfer your account. We may transfer these terms to a successor, and your rights come with them.
- Things outside our control (outages, natural events, provider failures) may delay the service, and we are not liable for those delays.
